The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that two people were shot, but it has not released the condition of either victim.
The victims we are told were taken to Danville Regional Medical Center.

The game itself was suspended with Gretna leading in the third quarter. Coaches say that's likely the way it will stay, but the Virginia High School League has the final decision.

Minority activists in Lynchburg want the city's police chief fired for not doing enough to prevent what they say is racial profiling by some of his officers.

A group of hikers had to be rescued tonight after getting lost in the woods.

It happened at Dragon's Tooth on the Appalachian Trail off Route 3-11.
Five hikers who are in their twenties called 9-1-1 after it got dark.
It would take nearly two hours and eight rescurers on A-T-V's to locate the group on top of the mountain.
They were not wearing jackets but had started a fire to keep warm.

The Buchanan County Sheriff says they mobilized everyone they could to help find two children swept away by flood waters.

Today searchers found the bodies of four year old Kayley Runyon and two year old Christian Runyon. The two disappeared after a culvert holding back a swollen creek gave way. The floodwaters swept away five homes and pulled the children from their parents arms. Nearby residents were able to save the parents.

A fire at a Campbell County woodchipping business could go on for several days.

Crews responded to the Gibson Pallet Company around two o'clock this afternoon.
It is located on Lynch Mill Road just off Route 43 near Alta Vista.
Firefighters believe a woodchipper caught fire which then spread to a twenty foot chip pile.
Crews quickly knocked down the fire but say it could take days maybe weeks before the fire is completely out.

Bobby O' Brien gave Tech a 2-1 lead in the second half when he put home this penalty kick midway thru.
Clemson answered with a penalty kick of its own near the end of regulation. The two teams battled thru overtime and penalty kicks before the Hokies prevailed 6-5. They'll travel to VCU next week.
