Analysts say the governor will have to include tax cuts in his plan in order to push it through a Republican controlled legislature. Warner says if lawmakers can't agree on a tax reform package by March he may call a special session until the job is finished.

The suspect in the murder of a woman near downtown Lynchburg has been arrested.

Two passersby discovered 44-year-old Linda Brooks Kirkland dead behind a vacant building at the corner of 12th and Grace Streets on Saturday.
Police are not saying how she died.
Yesterday morning, they arrested 22-year-old Thando (TAHN-doh) "George" Khumalo (koo-MAHL-oh) of Lynchburg, and charged him with Kirkland's murder.
Investigators say the two appeared to have known each other... the area where Kirkland's body was found is a known hangout for homeless persons.

The American Bikers Advocate in Training and Education will continue its eight year tradition by raising money and food for needy families during the holidays.

Edgers on Williamson Road, K-92, and local Food Lion stores are collecting food to help out the ABATE bikers. Valley Ridge Water owner Doodlebug Dressler has been buying water from the county since July, but county officials say last week's heavy rains led to the contamination of the well. Dressler says that he DID notify his customers by radio, newspaper, and a newsletter he personally sent out. The system is currently being flushed and Dressler expects the entire problem will be cleaned up by December first.

The Roanoke County police department is celebrating a milestone. At a ceremony in Colorado Springs Saturday night, the department earned national accreditation, with a 97-percent compliance rate. This is the fourth time the police department has received accreditation.
