It appears the further south you live the worse it gets. V-DOT officials say Bland county is particularly bad right now... especially in the Rocky Gap area. They also say to use caution on primary and secondary roads in Wythe, Grayson and Carroll Counties... even on Interstates 81 and 77. V-DOT workers are only focusing on the primary roads right now, they are not plowing any seconardy roads. They say if you must hit the road to use chains and snow tires.

Clower was just released from a half-way house Monday- -after serving a year in prison for embezzling about 800-thousand dollars in County funds. A federal Grand Jury in Charlottesville

returned the indictment yesterday, but it was under seal until today. Clower was allowed to self-report for his initial appearance and was released on a "personal recognizance bond." He's charged with six counts of tax evasion and fraud.

Health officials say the last week has brought a significant increase of flu cases in the Roanoke Valley.

That's why they are urging people at highest risk for the virus, like seniors and those with chronic illnesses, to get the flu shot immediately.
The vaccine takes about two weeks to become effective.
Health officials say compared to this time last year --there are 3 times as many flu cases in the area.

Lewis-Gale Medical Center is reporting an influx of flu patients, while Carilion says so far it has not seen a signifcant increase in flu activity in its emergency room.

Alfonso Rodriguez appeared in a Grand Forks courtroom this afternoon. His attorney says Rodriguez wants to remain in jail for his own safety.
The convicted rapist entered no plea- an arraignment is set for Feburary.

Police haven't said much about their interviews with Rodriguez only saying he was in the Grand Forks mall parking lot the day (Shoh-DEEN) was last seen.
