Governor Mark Warner received an early Christmas present today in the form of a poll.
The latest Mason Dixon poll shows that most Virginians support his tax reform package.

Yet, a Mason Dixon poll conducted last week reveals that 56 percent of Virginians say they support the plan.
Warner's tax reform plan garnered a majority of support in every region of the state, except one.
Almost half of the voters polled in Lynchburg and southside Virginia say they don't like the plan and that doesn't surprise Republican Delegate Morgan Griffith.

Still those polled backed most of Warner's proposals, even the one penny increase in the sales tax, which is a major revenue raiser.
Republicans say it is just a matter of time before voters change their minds.

A single car accident in Franklin County killed a Gretna man.
State Police say 88- year- old Herbert Edward Tuck was driving north on US 220 around 6:30 this morning.
The accident happened just north of State Route 775, when his car left the right side of the road.
The vehicle struck a sign, went through a chain link fence, became airborne, hit a parked car, and overturned several times.
Tuck was ejected from the car. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Six-year-old Makayla Coles was riding on a float in the Retail Merchants Christmas parade, when one of the wheels pulled her to the ground and ran over her legs.
She was taken to Roanoke Community hospital where she is now recovering from some muscle damage to her leg.

Guildhall, also known as the Moomaw House, was built in 1882 by Reverend D-C Moomaw.
The house had stood empty for years despite local interest in renovation.
Even the pastor of the Garden of Prayer Church, which owns the lot, says he would have liked to have been able to restore the manse.
In its place the church will build sanctuary and gymnasium.

Of the 16 games statewide that were scheduled for this past weekend, Roanoke was the only venue west of Charlottesville that didn't get its facility ready for its athletes to play on either Saturday or Sunday.
It's simply embarrassing. Especially when you consider that places like Naruna and Hot Springs got their fields in cleared in time to play as scheduled on Saturday.
And Roanoke has more citizens in some of its neighborhoods than those people have in their entire towns.

A group of 18-middle school and high school teachers from Seoul, South Korea visited Fishburn Park Elementary this morning, to learn about the school's gifted education program.
Last year, the South Korean government required all provinces to implement a gifted education program in their schools.
