[Take Earthquake Locator FS] The National Earthquake Information Center reports the quake was centered about 30 miles west of Richmond. It measured 4-point-5 on the Richter scale, not a strong earthquake by national standards, but unusually strong for Virginia.

Nester says they want to hear from anybody who may have seen a green, 2001 Ford van at the airstrip shortly after the murders in August of last year. A van of that same description belonging to Gary Bowman was taken into custody early in the investigation. Bowman is so far the only named "person of interest" in the case. Detectives are also looking for a woman who may have had contact with the driver of the van. She is described as a thin caucasian with reddish-blonde hair. Her car is described as a late 80's model hatchback painted primer-gray.

Lynchburg police are looking into whether a shooting this morning near a city park was gang-related.

Police quickly took four suspects into custody as they ran through Miller Park.

Before the recount, Richard Shelton was leading Incumbent Freda Connor by 47 votes. At last count, Shelton had picked up another 6-votes for a total of 53. Four election officials have been going over the county's voting machines since early this morning. They also have to hand count the write-in ballots. Shelton is currently in Richmond training for his new position. We hope to have word from a 3-judge panel on a certified winner later this evening.

New River Community College invited more than 11-hundred unemployed workers from the region to a free workshop.

Officials are trying to help people find new careers or change directions completely. They had local companies and unemployment officials on hand, plus information on going back to school. The region's unemployment rate rose 3.4 percent last mont and is expected to rise again in January when the Renfro Plant in Pulaski closes.

Ross was named the new head coach at West Point today - taking over an Army team that just finished its season 0-and-13. Ross has been visiting college programs off and on over the last few years including UVa where Ross's son Kevin is the running backs coach.
Ross won a national title at Ga. Tech in 1990 and took the Chargers to the Super Bowl in 1994. He turns 67 years old two weeks from today.

Coach Beamer and Tech quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers watched the seven on seven drills and also had a chance to evaluate athletes inside. 65 Hargrave football players ran the 40 yard dash, leaped during the vertical jump test and preformed shuttle drills in front of over 80 college coaches including 13 head college coaches. Hargrave kids are fighting for scholarship spots but they aren't the ONLY onese competing at the combine. Its seems every coach is after players like 6 foot 6, 280 pound defensive lineman Brandon Setzer, whose vertical jump was 36 inches. ((:))
