Fifteen hundred people died of the flu in the state last year. Half of those were over the ago of 85.

In the meantime, so many students in Buchanan County have the flu, classes were cancelled today.
More than 20 percent of the students were sicktoday. That compares to just seven percent at the same time last year.
For weeks doctors have said the best defense against is flu is the vaccine. But, as Sean Kenniff tells us, getting vaccinated is easier said than done.

I tried calling around the region to see if anyone had anymore of the flu shot left. Most everyone was out, or the amount they did have left was for patients in the hospital or was already accounted for.
FluMist is still an option for healthy people ages 5 to 49. You will have to get it from a doctors office --the health departments don't offer it.
But there is some good news --State health officials say they will be getting more of the flu shot soon.
