Two bears from the Natural Bridge Zoo escaped from a cage on nearby property last night, and one of them broke into a home.
That bear is dead this morning, and the other is still on the loose in Rockbridge County.

Efforts to tranquilize the first bear were unsuccessful.
The owner of the zoo and sheriff's deputies shot and killed the animal in the home.
The other bear was apparently wounded as well, but it ran off into the woods, where hunters were still tracking it last night.

Virginia Authorities have made the nation's first felony arrest for sending junk email.

Two North Carolina men are the first people charged under Virginia's anti-spam law.
Jeremy Jaynes and Richard Rutowski each face four felony counts for allegedly sending hundreds of thousands of unsolicited emails.
The two allegedly sent e-mails promoting investment schemes, computer software and home mortgage deals.
America Online says their members stand to benefit from the state's vigorous prosecution of spammers.
The Virginia-based company currently blocks two BILLION spam emails a day.

Soon the trip between Blacksburg and Roanoke will only be a bus ride away.

Blacksburg Town Council has approved a bus route between the 2-regions.
Valley Metro was awarded a 3-year grant to start the service, but needed Blacksburg to get on board.
Under the proposal, 2 buses will run Monday through Saturday.
It's estimated a one-way trip will take an hour and a half and cost riders 3-bucks.
Valley Metro is hoping to start the route this Spring.

Students at one Roanoke School will get a chance to be judged by a jury of their OWN peers.

It is called youth court and it'll be implemented at Patrick Henry High School.
Yesterday, students and faculty gathered for a training session to learn how young people can deliver justice.
It is an intervention program where students will serve as jurors to hear cases of fellow students who have committed minor offenses.

Yesterday, just five days before Lynchburg city council will decide whether to rezone the property- council got a preview of what Falwell plans.

Four council members toured the 880-thousand square foot site yesterday morning with Falwell.
He wants to use the building to expand Liberty University, and relocate Thomas Road Baptist Church and Lynchburg Christian Academy.

Buchanan County is honoring one of the victims from a deadly law school shooting in Grundy.

Dales was killed 2-years ago this January in a deadly shooting spree at the Appalachian School of Law.
The school's dean and a professor were also killed and 3-others were injured.
