Virginia Republicans are praising the military for the capture of Saddam Hussein. In prepared statements, Senator George Allen and Congressman Bob Goodlatte hailed the capture as an opportunity for Iraq to move forward in peace. Goodlatte was visiting with soldiers at the Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany when the news broke.

An ice covered bridge is being blamed for a chain reaction accident on Interstate 81 today that left one man dead.

Shortly before 10 o'clock, State Police say Benjamin S. Grant of Tennessee was traveling north near mile- marker 95 when he lost control on a patch of ice and hit a guardrail. He then came back onto the road where he was struck by a tractor trailer. A second tractor- trailer then rear- ended a freight- liner that struck Grant's Ford Festiva. The 24- year- old was pronounced dead on the scene. Traffic was backed up for more than an hour while crews cleared the wreckage.
