A gift that came after months of controversy.
It all began in September when the county found out that Life Center of Galax wanted to open a methadone clinic at the corner of Colonial Avenue and Ogden Road.
After strong neighborhood opposition, the Board of Supervisors and the board of zoning appeals denied Life Center's request.
In response, the company filed two appeals and even a lawsuit in circuit court.

Thre's a low potential for misuse and abuse, the safety risks are very limited.

The FDA says the pills should be used within 72 hours to be effective at preventing pregnancy. Another fear IS THAT the morning after pill will be used as a regular birth control method.
SOT: Carole Ben Maimon, MD, "Plan B" Researcher
The name plan "b" was chosen in order to communicate to women this is plan "b." Plan A is abstience, family planning and routine forms of
birth control."
Stand up: There are still obstacles to overcome before women can get the morning after pill without a prescription. There are age restrictions to consider and label concerns.
Nat/SoT
Maybe there can be a web site...... on those labels.
And the FDA panel wants warnings on those labels....telling women who have taken the pill...that they may still need to contact their doctor.
Five states already allow women to buy the emergency contraception from certain pharmacists.
But it could still be several months before the FDA gives its final approval allowing women across the country to get the pill.
