A federal appeals court issued a stay of his execution yesterday.

Reid is arguing that lethal injection constitutes a form of cruel and unusual punishment.

23-year old Neesha Edwards was shot to death while sitting in a car outside of her apartment on Bennett Drive around four this morning. According to police, two hours before she was killed Edwards obtained a warrant against 26 year old Carl Lamonte Richardson, saying he had threatened to kill her. He was arrested a few hours after the shooting, and is being held on murder a charge at the Roanoke City Jail without bond. Neesha Edwards was a student at the BalPalma Beauty Careers Academy, and school officials say she will be missed.

Amid the smoke at the front of the jet, you can see crew members jumped to safety.
Of the seven only one person was injured when jumping from the plane.

Fed Ex says there was no indication of an emergency before the landing- No word on what sparked the fire or whether any of the jet's cargo was damaged.

Hidden Valley and Cave Spring high schools lost a friend, a mentor, an awesome strategist and a great guy today when Titans boys soccer coach and history teacher Bruce Mahan died this morning.

Mahan suffered a brain aneurysm this past Thursday and was taken to UVa medical center where he underwent emergency surgery. Mahan died in his sleep sometime between last night and this morning.
Mahan led Cave Spring to five straight Roanoke Valley District titles. After some time away from coaching he took over at Hidden Valley and led the Titans to the state tournament in the school's first year of soccer competition. Mahan coached many great players including ACC all tournament team selection and former Knight John Hartman.

Instead of flowers the family has asked that people make donations to the Bruce Mahan Memorial Scholarship which can be deposited at any Suntrust bank or Hidden Valley High School. Bruce Mahan was 48 years old is survived by his wife Kim, and sons Nathan and James.
