More than 200 Valley Ridge Water customers have been forced to boil their water for more than a month now. Outside of paying their water bill, many customers are now purchasing bottled water on a regular basis. Customers were switched to a county well back in July. Shortly before Thanksgiving heavy rains contaminated the well and the water has been cloudy ever since. The Board of Supervisors is now considering extending its water line to try and remedy the problem.

Beginning January 1st, the state's new Legal Presence Law will require applicants for a driver's license or photo identification card to provide documents proving they are in the United States legally. The law will NOT affect renewals of valid driver's licenses, but it could increase wait times an average of five minutes. A D-M-V official say immigrants are likely to feel the most impact of the law.
