The F-B-I is apparently investigating a person in Tappahannock (TAP-uh-HAN-ick) for possible ties to terrorist organizations.

The Richmond Times Dispatch says the person under investigation is considered a possible source of financing and other assistance for terrorist groups.
It said its sources did NOT identify the person by name or nationality.
The report says the town about 45 mile northeast of Richmond is NOT considered a target for a terrorist attack.

The five year old boy who was missing in Halifax County has been found dead. The body of DeAndre Barksdale was discovered in the woods less than two miles from his grandparents home where he'd been visiting for the holidays.

Roanoke civic leader and funeral home director Lawrence Hamlar has died.
Hamlar helped end segregation at Roanoke's lunch counters, movie theaters, and hospitals at a time when other cities experienced riots and violence.

Hamlar was a member of a bi-racial committee in the 1960s that helped integrate Roanoke.
He was also an advocate of higher education who established funds at Roanoke College and Virginia Western Community College to help minority students.

Seventy four year old Vestal Goodman died Saturday in Florida from complications of the flu.
She and her late husband Howard, were part of The Happy Goodman Family that recorded 15 number-one songs. The group was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1998.

One person died and nearly 30 others were injured when an earthquake struck two resort islands in Indonesia.

The six-point-one magnitude quake shook tourists and residents from their beds before dawn today.
More than 250 buildings suffered damage from the quake, which was centered about 18 miles off the coast of Bali.
Meanwhile, another earthquake struck Mexico City yesterday, measuring six-point-three on the Richter scale.
No one was reportedly injured in that quake.

More car dealers are moving their inventory to save tax dollars.

It's all part of a protest of Amherst County's annual merchants tax which is levied on inventory that is physically in the county on New Year's Day.
Dealers say the tax hits them the hardest because their stock sells more slowly and is higher priced.
The cars were moved to the lot of the old Ericcson property in Lynchburg, which does not have a merchant's tax.
The dealers are paying Jerry Falwell Ministries a fee to store the cars.

Some child advocates are calling Irwin reckless for holding one-month-old Bob while feeding the crocodile a dead chicken.
Irwin defended the stunt, saying the baby was never in danger.
But he now faces a possible police investigation.
Authorities say they received complaints from the public about the incident.
