It's another line of defense--another way to try to keep terrorists off U-S soil.

Customs agents can now instantly check an immigrant or visitors
criminal background by through national datadbases.
Federal authorities say the process adds less than a minute to the time it already takes to get through customs.
Some passengers admit its a slight inconvenience.

And theres the issue that its not for everyone.
Visitors from 27 countries-- whose citizens are allowed to come to the United States for up to 90 days without visas are exempt.

Jake Hess passed away Saturday in Alabama.
The 76-year old singer had been hospitialized since a heart attack last month.
A four-time Grammy winner who's in the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Hess is best known to contemporary audiences as a regular member of ``Bill Gaither's Homecoming Friends.''

Biologists rescued the 2-month old sea cow off the coast of Miami, saying it's struggling from cold stress, similar to frost bite.
Biologists say the manatee got sick after a cold snap a month ago.
The baby manatee is also suffering an infection and is now at the Miami seaquariam.
The young manatee has a 25 to 50 percent change of surviving.
