The Company informed The Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen yesterday of its plans to shut down the shop today. Eighteen workers will be out of work as of January 16th, though they all have enough seniority to qualify for field assignments. As this was a cost-cutting move, however, the ripple affect may still result in laying off workers with less seniority. The shop has long refurbished old signal devices.
