The news of new jobs is making it a bit of a brighter day in Henry County.

State and county leaders made the announcement yesterday afternoon at the administration building.
MasterBrand Cabinets plans to open in the Patriot Center Industrial Park and create 745 jobs in the next seven years.
Governor Warner says the deal has been in the works for months but it almost fell through last week.

are in danger of losing the exemption that allows them to start classes in August.
The exemption is based upon the number of snow days a school system takes. Griffith says Salem has not had enough.
The Republican is introducing a bill to keep Salem's school year intact.

Roanoke police say a woman found dead on Monday was murdered.

Investigators thought at first that 77- year old Teresa Rogers had fallen and hit her head. An autopsy and a preliminary investigation revealed "suspicious circumstances." Police have obtained a search warrant for her home as well as the larger house on the property where her son Christopher lived.

A Carroll County man has died from wounds he suffered in a shooting.
Donald Brady was shot four times during a robbery last week in the Keno section of the county.
