Still no word on what caused a Roanoke fire that left a little boy dead. Neighbors say 3-year old Kiante Poindexter was trapped in the house in the 2-thousand block of Tinker Drive. The boy's mother and other residents of Tinker Creek Manor Apartments say faulty windows and equipment kept the child from escaping or being rescued.

[VO] Police have charged 22-year-old Zachary Bryant of Moneta and 35-year-old Christopher Martin of Roanoke with breaking and entering and felony property damage.

Investigators say they got a tip from some folks in the community that the two men broke into the Mount Moriah Baptist Church last week and ransacked the place. Reverend Thomas Pleasant says he's relieved to know the suspects are behind bars, but he actually feels sorry for them.

Amherst County authorities are still trying to figure out who shot and killed a New York City man over the weekend and dumped his body near the James River.

Investigators say 23-year-old Phillip D. James was shot several times in the torso.
His body was discovered Saturday afternoon near the Harris Creek bridge on River Road.
Authorities believe James was killed at the same spot where his body was found.

Basketball fans in the valley are in for a treat tonight as Charles G. Driesell, otherwise known as "Lefty", will speak at the January meeting of the Roanoke Valley Sports Club.

Driesell coached 41 seasons at Davidson, Maryland, James Madison, and Georgia State before retiring last year. He won 786 games in his career and had 22 seasons of 20 or more wins. The festivities get underway in just a few minutes at the Salem Civic Center.

A Florida woman fell off the face of the earth yesterday.

Linda Sharp was walking her dog when the ground beneath her feet gave way. She tumbled into a sinkhole ten feet deep.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, neighbors noticed her missing, saw the dog dragging its leash and called authorities. Rescue workers used a crane and a harness to lift the woman to safety. She was taken to the hospital for back injuries.

There is now buzz about an anti-aging beer.

A brewery in Germany has created a beer enhanced with alge, which contains vitamins and minerals said to slow the aging process. The Neuzeller Kloster Brewery hopes to begin selling the beer this year in grocery and drug stores. First, it must face a German law dating back to 1516 which says beer brewed in Germany can only be made from barley, hops, yeast, and water. The "Anti-Ageing-Bier" will be presented this week at the Green Week Agricultural Trade Fair in Berlin.
