V-DOT says a tunnel in Bland County struck by two tractor trailers this morning is safe to drive through.

The northbound lanes of Big Walker Mountain Tunnel on Interstate 77 were closed for several hours this morning.
Around 6 A-M a tractor trailer lost power in the middle of the tunnel and stalled.
A second tractor trailer hit it from behind and clipped the side.
No one was injured. State police are investigating.
The tunnel is re-open and V-DOT work crews say there does not appear to be any structural damage.

Public safety employees say they will be working to turn out like-minded voters for the firehouse primary on February 7th at the Roanoke Civic Center.

In the past week, he's lost a seat on the Bedford County board of supervisors TWICE.. now Steve Arrington says he's still debating whether to run in the November election.

Arrington beat incumbent Tony Ware last fall by 12 votes.
But a three-judge panel overturned the results of that election, because of voting errors in one Forest precinct.
Arrington was going to apply for the interim vacancy, however the board appointed Ware Monday night without considering any other candidates.
Arrington says he was surprised and disappointed by the move.
He expects to decide by this weekend whether to run in the special election in November.

A federal Grand Jury has returned an indictment in a child pornography case in Henry County.
Local Sheriff's investigators helped develop the case in Bassett and turned it over to federal authorities.
The U-S Attorney's office has scheduled a news conference in the morning to release details, with an initial appearance by the suspect scheduled in court after that.

The chief circuit judge in the Roanoke Valley is recovering from a mild stroke.
Robert "Pat" Doherty suffered the stroke while hearing a case in Salem late yesterday.
He was rushed to Lewis Gale Medical Center where he remains tonight.
The Judge is alert and talking and expects to be able to go home tomorrow.
Judge Doherty's been on the Circuit bench nine years.

A school for troubled young people is one step closer to reality tonight in Radford.

This week, on a vote of 4-to-2, the Planning Commission recommended the city rezoned an empty manufacturing site on Main Street so the school can move in.
Concept one, wants to create a private academy for about 50 at-risk students.
It'll create about 70 new jobs.
Several city council members have already expressed concerns over the school and the loss of prime industrial space.
They'll vote on the project next week.
