Three men face possible jail time for allegedly misrepresenting themselves in local telemarketing calls. The Salem Police Department says Kenneth Cleveland and Gary Evert of Arkansas, and Bobby Joe Leonard of Georgia were working for a local telemarketing firm.
They were soliciting money on behalf of a fraternal organization. Police say the trio took their pitch too far by affiliating themselves with the Salem Police Department. All three are charged with conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretenses.

Officials say a short circuit led to the fire inside a crowded marriage hall.
The bride is in serious condition with burns.
She, along with about 60 others were injured when they stampeded down a narrow staircase to escape the flames.

Virginia authorities want to reduce the risk of Mad Cow Disease in the Commonwealth.

Yesterday, cows in the Richmond area were electronically tagged.
The tag is stapled to the animal's ear, allowing farmers to follow the cow from birth to the time they are slaughtered.
Agriculture officials say that the tagging does NOT affect cows in any way, but they're confident that the new process will help prevent Mad Cow Disease.
Officials have made the tagging system mandatory for all cows in the Commonwealth, but said that it will take some time for the program to run smoothly.

NASA has finally received a message back from Mars.

The signal from the Spirit rover lasted 10 minutes, and was picked up by a NASA antenna complex in Spain.
However, officials aren't saying yet what the signal contained.
If it had significant information, it would be the first such signal in two days.
Engineers are hoping that the Spirit rover will also send them some engineering data, so that they can determine the condition of the six- wheeled robot.

Lopez plays Affleck's wife in their new movie "Jersey Girl" which is still scheduled to come out in March.
