Virginia State Police took their recruitment campaign to Southside today.
Applicants traveled to Martinsville from as far as Massachusetts in hopes of getting a job. The department hopes to hire nearly 200 people statewide by next January and as Jennifer Wishon reports, there are plenty of interested candidates.

Yesterday, state officials warned the dam could fail on the next rainfall because a section has eroded. The owner of the property told authorities yesterday he would drain the pond this weekend, but said today he had NOT started, and had no intention of doing so. State officials say they do have the authority to drain the pond themselves, if there is an imminent danger to life or property. 8 families live below the 4-acre pond, and have been advised to evacuate the area.

An unusual exhibit at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art may end up drawing more attention than any other.

Brazilian artist Jose' Damasceno used 30-thousand number-2 pencils to make this exhibit he calls "Observation Plan." Observation Plan tells the story of visitors in a museum looking at art. The exhibit took some outside help though. Workers at the museum accidently bought the pencils with erasers, so they had to cut all 30-thousand of them before the project could proceed.
