Roads like 460 still have some trouble spots... and side streets are another story. You can't even see the pavement.
V-DOT says it's so cold even their normally helpful chemicals are falling short. They don't work quite as well when the thermometer doesn't reach 20.

North Carolina-- which is already under a state of emergency-- is expecting up to a quarter inch of freezing rain this afternoon.

Meanwhile, road crews in and around Washington are trying to keep up with the snowfall.
And another storm is expected to hit Ohio later tonight, dumping more snow on the state after the heaviest snowfall of the season fell yesterday. At least two dozen deaths are blamed on the weather.

A court hearing today in Florida could free a 16- year- old from prison.

Lionel Tate is expected to be released after spending three years behind bars for the so- called "wrestling murder."


Tate was convicted of first degree murder in 2001, and was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing six year old Tiffany Eunick.
Last month, an appeals court threw out the sentence, and the teen accepted a new plea deal, despite his mother's concerns.

Health officials in Thailand say five people believed to have the bird flu have died.
Six other deaths are reported in Vietnam.
The virus has infected millions of chickens in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
Health experts say those who come in contact with infected birds are most at risk of contracting the illness.
So far, there's no evidence the virus is spread from person to person.

Winning the nation's largest lottery has not improved the luck of a West Virginia man.
Jack Whittaker was arraigned last night in West Virginia on a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Whittaker registered a point- one- nine- oh blood alcohol level, and failed three field sobriety tests.
The arrest was Whittaker's SECOND this year.
He was arraigned earlier this month on charges of trying to hit and threatening the manager of a bar.
Whittaker hit the 315- million-dollar Powerball jackpot on Christmas of 2002.
Just over a week ago, he had 100 thousand dollars in cash taken out of his car.
In August, he had more than a half MILLION dollars taken out of his car at a Charleston strip club.
