A water main break in Roanoke could affect your morning commute. The eastbound lane of Salem Turnpike is open to traffic from Peters Creek Road to Westside Boulevard.
Authorities say motorists who travel east or west on Peters Creek Road may wish to take Melrose Avenue or Shenandoah Avenue. Crews are working to repair the break.

A Star Virginia Tech football player is being investigated by the Blacksburg Police, though he has not been charged with any crime. Police searched the apartment of 19 year old quarterback Marcus Vick yesterday.
According to a search warrant the investigation has to do with allegations Vick contributed to the delinquency of a minor.
According to the search warrant, 3-underage females told police they were in Vick's apartment drinking. Two of the girls told police a 15 year had sexual intercourse with Vick.

A circuit court judge upheld the sentence of a Lynchburg man accused of double murders.
This is the first death penalty sentence in forty years for the city.

Anthony and Rhonda Robinson and said he should die for his crimes.

We have some traffic information to pass along this morning.
There's a 12- inch water main break on Salem Turnpike between Westside Boulevard and Red Fox Drive.
The westbound lane of Salem Turnpike is closed, but there is a detour.
Authorities say between 25 and 30 homes in the area are without water. Crews are working to repair the break, and should have the water turned back on by 12:30.

Senators William Wampler and Brandon Bell introduced legislation to keep methadone clinics far away from schoolchildren.
Even though the bill has been approved by a senate committee, it won't stop plans for a proposed facility in Roanoke.

It prohibits setting up a methadone clinic within a half mile of a school or daycare center.
The bill also requires the state to notify local officials when a methadone clinic plans to move into an area.
The Southwest Virginia lawmakers say there is a proper place for these drug treatment centers, but that they should not be near children.

Meanwhile, the eastbound land of Salem Turnpike is open to traffic.
Authorities say between 25 and 30 homes in the area are without water.
Those still with service may experience temporary water discoloration as a result of changes in water pressure.

But officials say discoloration does not affect the safety of drinking water. Crews are working to repair the break, and should have the water turned back on by 12:30.
