A New York man is behind bars after Amherst County authorities arrest him in connection with a murder last month. 26-year-old Jermel Lawrence Storey was pulled over by Lynchburg Police around two o-clock yesterday morning. He was later arrested after officers learned he was wanted for questioning in the January 16th murder of Phillip James near Madison Heights. Storey faces first degree murder charges, and firearms charges. He's being held in the Amherst County Jail without bond. Authorities say the investigation is continuing and there could more arrests.

Henry County authorities have arrested a man in connection with a 10-year-old murder. Brian Douglas Kidd was last seen in August of 1993 at a home on Richardson Drive near Collinsville. Authorities say Kidd was shot outside his residence and his body was taken to a wooded area. Yesterday, 38 year old Robert Wayne Reynolds of Fieldale contacted authorities in reference to the disappearance, and was charged with second degree murder. Reynolds is being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.

The academy is held in a five- thousand- square foot space at the Jefferson Center, but police say they've outgrown it and have been looking for a new location.

City Council pitched-in back in October, when it approved a three- dollar- assessment fee. The fee is added to the court costs of anyone convicted of a violation in the city, and the proceeds go toward a new facility.

Each year, corporate site consultants rank locations on quality of life, cultural amenities and local crime rates. Roanoke has made the list for the past four years. Economic leaders say that's good news when it comes to recruiting new businesses.

The recent cold temperatures have the Roanoke Rescue Mission bursting at the seams.

The shelter has been operating at capacity for more than a year now, but extremely cold temperatures over the past few weeks have pushed its resources to the limit. The mission has seen more people over the past ten days than at any one time during its 55- year history.

Construction has begun on a new building that will house the mission's women's and children's shelter. Framing on the 58- thousand square- foot facility is set to begin TODAY. The mission has already raised 2- point- 7 million- dollars. Another 700- thousand dollars are needed to complete the project.

At Coach B's in Salem, the restaurant sold more than one-thousand buffalo wings by halftime. In fact, the restaurant ordered more wings for the big game, and will have to order more for the rest of the week. Robert Brown of Coach B's says that many folks decided to watch the game at home, and that most people who ordered food opted to pick it up themselves instead of having it delivered.
