A developer wants to build several hundred homes near the Parkway and it has very little opposition.

Even so, the county does have concerns over what impact the development will have on the rescue resources and the local schools in the area.
Despite that, the Blue Ridge Parkway Superintendent has given the project the green light and tonight the Roanoke County Planning Commission voted to make a recommendation that the Board of Supervisors approve this plan.

The developer hopes to begin building by the end of the year and the entire project should take five years to complete.

The contractor who built Gold's Gym on Electric Road near Cave Spring mistakenly put up light poles that reached 33 and a half feet.
Prior regulations for that site restrict light poles to just 22 feet.
Although it admits it made a mistake, the contractor asked the planning commission tonight to allow the light poles to remain.
One neighbor thinks the lights should go.

Authorities are now looking for a blue, 1987 Dodge pick up truck believed stolen from the property.

Slick roads are partly to blame for an accident today on I-81.

State police say a tanker-truck was headed north near the Glenvar exit, when it hit some deep slush and flipped over.
The driver, 48-year-old John Henry Booth of Christiansburg, was not hurt, but was charged with reckless driving.
State police had to periodically shut-down both the north and southbound lanes in order to clear the wreck.
All four lanes were reopened to traffic after more than seven hours.

It wasn't student's spotted on campus... but moose.
Four in all were seen casually roaming the grounds at the University of Utah.
Wildlife officials were called in .. they say the moose are hungry and come down from the mountains just looking for food.
Still though the moose were the talk of the campus.
