A person is shot last night in Roanoke.

Officers were called to an apartment in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue Southwest after 10 o-clock.
Police say a man was shot in the head and transported to the hospital. There's no word on his condition.
The suspect has been arrested and is charged with malicous wounding
The idenities of the both men have not been released.
Neighbors say they heard arguing before the shooting.
Police are still investigating what happened.

Two robberies in two weeks for one Roanoke bank, but now a suspect is in custody thanks to a group of bystanders.

Yesterday morning, Jerome Landsdown was across the street when he saw a man who resembled the suspect walk into the bank.
He and three other men gave chase when the man left the bank a few minutes later.

The men restrained the suspect until officers arrived. Police have charged 34- year- old Van Martin Jr. with bank robbery. They say they are still trying to determine if the two robberies are related.

Even so, the county does have concerns over what impact the development will have on resources like rescue personnel and the schools.
Despite that, the Roanoke County Planning Commission voted to make a recommendation that the Board of Supervisors approve this plan.
The Board of Supervisors will take up the issue at its February 24th meeting.

Edwards says the rail improvements along I-81 would cost over 500 million dollars.
It would be paid for by a surcharge on freight and passenger train traffic.
He says 39 localities from Bristol to Winchester have already endorsed a rail component to I-81.

The contractor who built Gold's Gym on Electric Road near Cave Spring mistakenly put up light poles that reached 33 and a half feet.
Prior regulations for that site restrict light poles to just 22 feet.
Although it admits it made a mistake, the contractor asked the planning commission last night to allow the light poles to remain.
One neighbor thinks the lights should go.

The Patrick County sheriff says he's not ruling out anything as he investigates what appears to be a double murder.
A man and a woman were found shot to death inside a mobile home Saturday on Cherry Creek Road in Meadows of Dan.
The man is identified as 48-year-old Kenneth Richard Williams.
Deputies believe the woman is his wife, but have not made a positive identification.
Authorities are now looking for a blue, 1987 Dodge pick up truck believed stolen from the property.
