Faneiul is the former assistant to Stewart's former stockbroker and co-defendant, Peter Baconovic.

Jeanne Pirro/Legal Expert (Legal Analyst) What the prosecutor is doing is they are setting up the stage for what Martha knew and when she knew it, and how she acted upon that knowledge.

Faneiul claims Stewart and Baconovic then "cooked up" a story about the well-timed stock sale. Telling investigators that they had a pre-existing agreement to sell the stock when it hit 60 dollars.
---.

Pirro So this witness, if he is to be believed, is essential to the prosecutions case as it relates to both Baconovic and Stewart.
---.

on camera Bridge: So far, Faneiul has come through for the Prosecution. He's been calm and cool on the witness stand. But his real test will be how he holds up under what could be a blistering cross examination from the defense.

Pirro: Make no mistake about it they are gunning for Fanieul.

Defense attorneys say Faneiul is an admitted liar, whose changed his story three times. They say it was only that after he was caught accepting illegal gifts, that he cut a deal with prosecutors to save his own skin. If they convince the jury of that, legal experts say the prosecutions case could fold, and Stewart could come out clean.))
