A team of surgeons in the Dominican Republic operated on a 2 month old girl born with a partially formed second head.
18 surgeons worked for 11 hours removing the second head which has a partially formed brain, ears, eyes and lips. The unformed head has only reflex movements like blinking, and its mouth moves while the other eats. Doctors say the other head would prevent the girl's brain from developing if left unchecked. This is a rare condition known as twin parasite.
There has been only one other case of a child surviving birth with the condition-- a baby born in the 18th century lived to 4 years old.
