According to the survey, the most frequently occurring safety issue is bullying, intimidation, or harassment.
Nearly 25-percent say it happens on a daily basis.
67 percent say discipline problems have been increasing over the past three years.
However, a majority say they feel safe in their school.
One respondent wrote "we do not have any safety issues. We feel very safe." ((NAT SOUND OF TEACHER TALKING AT 4:49:56))
Then there's the middle school level.
Again, bullying, intimidation, and harassment top the list as the major safety issue.
54 percent say it happens on a daily basis.
Teachers say the other problems are skipping class and student suspensions.
One respondent wrote "too many students think that they are in charge and run the show."
However, 71-percent say they feel safe in their school. ((NAT SOUND OF HIGH SCHOOL VIDEO))
Finally, there's the high school level.
Here skipping class is the major safety issue coming in at 83-percent.
It is followed by inappropriate dress, then bullying, intimidation, and harassment.
83 percent say discipline problems have been increasing over the past three years.
But only 30 percent believe communication is effective between teachers and administration in regards to safety issues. ))

We should mention serious problems like drugs, gang activity, and illegal weapons are basically non existent in the elementary and middle schools but a slight problem at the high school level.

Jean, the complete results will be released at tomorrow night's school board meeting.
(QUESTION: Justin- Did the report come up with any solutions?)

Actually it did, the survey indicates better parental involvement and more alternative education would resolve safety issues.
