Winter weather has struck this area again, bringing with it patches of ice.
Although there are no reports of serious accidents this morning, VDOT says road conditions are a mixed bag.

The arrival of winter weather yesterday may have played a factor in several accidents.

In Franklin County, traffic south and nouthbound was blocked between Rocky Mount and Boone's Mill yesterday evening.
State Police say two tractor trailers collided on slick roads, and it took hours to clean up the mess.

Other drivers also had trouble, with multiple fender-benders being reported and some cars sliding off roads. Police say they saw a large number of accidents, but few injuries were reported in Franklin and Henry Counties.

A federal grant will help some Rocky Mount residents renovate their homes.

About 35-homes in the Needmore neighborhood will get some retouching, as part of an improvement project for low-income housing. Officials say most of the houses in the area were built in the early 1900s, and are in need of improvements.

In addtion to the improvements, the town also hope to provide residents with better fire protection, by widening Goodview Avenue and adding another fire hydrant. Officials say funding for the project is through a one million dollar federal grant. Work is scheduled to begin next month.

It'll soon be a three- way race for Lynchburg's Ward One city council seat.

Last week, Marie Martin.. the wife of local car dealer Jim Martin.. confirmed to News 7 she will also be running for the post.

All four Ward seats are up for election in May.

The closing of Roanoke Schools today has forced a scheduled event to change its location. The Tuskegee Airmen program that was scheduled at William Fleming High School has been moved to Hotel Roanoke. It will still begin at its scheduled time of One p.m.
