The trial is underway for a former Giles County pastor accused of molesting several children in his church.

53 year old Roger Holcomb plead not guilty this morning to 7-counts of aggravated sexual battery and 4-counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
He's accused of molesting five children, ranging in age from seven to 13 while a pastor at Pembroke Church of God.


14 jurors were selected this morning.
The trial is expected to last several days.

A former columnist for the News-Gazette in Lexington has pleaded guilty to sex charges in Rockbridge County. As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors today, Jerry Harris pled guilty to one charge of taking indecent liberties with a minor, sexual battery, and forcible sodomy, all felonies. Harris also pled guilty to one misdemeanor count of possession of child pornography. He faces up to life plus 26 years in prison when he is sentenced in April.

A runner with the reputation for being very fast- failed to set a world record this afternoon.

Even the shouts of scores of supporters were not enough to push Savannah to break the record at this year's Cheetah Challenge in Cape Town.
The young female was prompted three times to break the record for the 100 meter dash set by another cheetah in 1999.

Held each year for the past six years, the Cheetah Challenge is designed to raise environmental awareness locally and abroad.
Savannah is part of a group of hand-raised Cheetah orphans whose day-job is helping educate young South Africans about the environment.
