The Virginia Senate has given preliminary approval to a tax plan that raises over three billion dollars in additional revenue.
But the measure did not advance without a fight.

Roanoke Police received a tip from Tennessee authorities that Thomas might be in the area, and last night they found the car investigators believed he was driving.

A Floyd County man was killed this morning in a head on collission in Montgomery County.
Police say 66-year old, Bernard F. Feldman was traveling north on Route 615 when he crossed the center line and hit the truck driven by 68- year old William E. Mills of Pilot.
Feldman was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.
Mills and a passenger in the other vehicle were both taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital but their injuries are not life threatening.
