The Coast Guard says a tanker carrying industrial ethanol exploded and sank about 50 miles off the Virginia coast tonight. The ship had 27 crew members aboard, and at least two crew members are dead and six others have been transported to hospitals in Maryland and Virginia.
The 570-foot tanker was traveling from New York to Houston when it called in a mayday alert to the Coast Guard just after 6 o'clock saying there had been an explosion on-board.
Three helicopters, three Coast Guard boats and a plane are searching for other survivors.

A Pakistani military operation has been under way in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan and members of al-Qaida are being sought there.

Investigators found blood and bullet casings at the family's Yazoo County home but no signs of forced entry.
Today, authorities searched the home of the family's adoptive cousin Earnest Lee Hargon and a nearby river in Taylorsville.
Officials say Hargon is being questioned as a 'person of interest'... but no charges have been filed.

But according to a county staff report prepared by the county's planning and zoning division "An evaluation committee from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources has recommended that the old school building is not potentially eligible for listing on the National Historic Register."
Earle and Marcelene Atkins are simply hoping the Greater Hidden Valley Neighborhood Association will have enough man- power to make a difference.

"Pirouettes and Paintings" is the Art Museum's newest education program for children.
The museum serves thousands of children each year from 40 counties in western Virginia.

Both teams had trouble shooting finishing the game under 35 percent, but Jamon Gordon made sure that this one went down in transition.
Bryant Matthews again led the Tech attack today as he fought off double teams and dropped in a game high 28 points for the Hokies.

The Tech ladies won their 20th game of the season today against Pittsburgh.
The Hokies carved up the Pitt press like a knife through hot butter. Carrie Mason who had 14 points gets one of her assists to Erin Gibson in transition.
The halfcourt game came just as easy in this one. Tech with the "high-low" as Kerry Garden finds a wide open Ieva Kublina in deep for the lay-in.

Tech shot a blistering 64 percent and won it 85-to-55.

A young harp seal is on his way back to the Atlantic Ocean today after veering way off course and ending up in the City of Brotherly Love.

The seal was first spotted stranded on a barge at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia Friday morning. This morning animal rescue workers captured the seal and drove it to a private beach on the New Jersey shore to release it back into the ocean.
