square foot facility behind the Lancerlot Sports Complex. Four of the five members of the Virginia Racing Commission visited the site last month. This morning, all four voted to approve the project.
The panel will also have to approve the facility once construction's complete. A commission spokesman says the business is expected to open in October.

Two people are in custody after a stand-off this afternoon in Botetourt County.

Authorities responded to a home on Old Mill Drive near Carvin's Cove just before two o'clock.
Initial reports indicated a man inside had a gun.
Ninety minutes later as swat teams were about to enter the home, a man and a woman walked outside and gave themselves up.
It is unclear who will be charged or if this was even a hostage situation.
The two were taken into custody without incident.

Walton's lawyers believe Walton functions at the level of a child, and therefore should not be executed.
Judge Sam Wilson asked Dr. Mills to examine Walton to determine whether he understands he's going to be executed and why. The psychiatrist concluded Walton does know he's scheduled to die, because he was convicted of killing Jessee and Elizabeth Kendrick and Archie Moore seven years ago in Danville.
The judge promised a ruling tomorrow.
