((He is the only person ever convicted of involvement in the September 11th attacks...but today judges in Germany overturned the verdict. Mounir El Motassadeq lived in this Hamburg neighborhood ....with three of the suicide hijackers.
The judges ruled he had not gotten a fair trial because the United States refused to allow key testimony.
His lawyer called the verdict a legal milestone.
A lawyer for the victims of nine-eleven called it incomprehensible.
(reuters tv file: trial in Hamburg Feb 19th, 2003)
But El Motassadeq is not a free man yet. His case will be sent back for a new trial in Hamburg, where he was found guilty last year of 3,066
counts of accessory to murder and of providing logistical support for the nine-eleven hijackers.
Today's ruling was prompted by the refusal of the United States to allow testimony by Ramzi bin al-Shibh, who is believed to have played a
central role in the September 11th plot and is being held in secret. That refusal is the reason why another nine-eleven suspect, Abdelghani
Mzoudi, was acquitted last month by a German court. Lawyers now think Motassadeq may eventually walk free as well.

Adkins wasn't the only Southside tie to the Terps. Bassett native and JMU Head Coach Sherman Dilliard was on the coaching staff as was legendary Martinsville coach Mel Cartwright, who passed away just over two years ago. He joined the Terps when Adkins signed with Maryland and put together the scouting report on the Blue Devils before the title game. Travis Wells with your WDBJ ACC Connection.))

Chippy was released on the beach and quickly headed toward the surf.
You probably remember Chippy. He gained fame when he mysteriously showed up more than 60 miles from the ocean in California.
Scientists think Chippy swam from the ocean to a river and a canal where he eventually ended up miles inland.
Vets later discovered a bullet lodged in his brain- though no one knows why he was shot.
After R and R at the mammal marine center in San Francisco.. Chippy is now back in the wild.
