Crews will be on Interstate 81 today cleaning up diesel fuel from yesterday's chain reaction accident.

Troopers say smoke from a brush fire slowed down and backed up traffic on the interstate near milemarker 124 in Montgomery County.
Officers say the driver of a tractor trailer couldn't stop in time and started the chain reaction that involved five vehicles and sent three people to the hospital.
The tractor trailer driver from New Jersey has been charged with reckless driving.

Officials at the Home Shopping Network in Salem will make an announcement today about the future of the company.
The facility employs nearly 400 people but it is unclear how many could be losing their jobs.

After the meeting several workers told News 7 they were told most of the Salem distribution center would close but its call center in Bonsack would remain open.

Brown was released from an Atlanta area jail yesterday afternoon, after the sheriff was presented an order requiring Brown to appear in a juvenile and domestic relations court in Roanoke for an emergency hearing tomorrow.

Last month, Brown was sentenced to 60 days in jail for violating the terms of his probation on a drunken-driving charge.
He addressed his fans as he left the jail yesterday.

A controversial sewer project has been approved by the Montgomery County supervisors despite objections from the planning commission.

About 3-miles of the line would run though the county.

He is the teacher who committed suicide after being falsely accused of hitting a student.

Home shopping Network announced today that it will move its hard goods fulfillment function from Salem, Virginia to Piney Flats, Tennessee by early fall . The jewelry fulfillment function that is currently handled in Salem will move to the company's Roanoke facility. Of the 450 people currently working at HSN's Salem facility, nearly half will move to the Roanoke facility with the jewelry fulfillment function. HSN will support the remaining employees by providing a variety of options such as offering comparable positions in Tennessee and reassignment to open positions in the Company's Roanoke facility.

The suspect, 24-year-old Anthony Wilder, Junior of Roanoke was taken to the hospital after being bitten in the thigh.
Officers recovered a small semi-automatic handgun and the money he allegedly stole. Wilder now faces several charges, including robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of felony.

The city's proposed 41-million dollar budget includes a 3-cent hike in the real estate tax.
It also calls for a 10-cent increase in monthly sewer rates and a 2-dollar hike in monthly trash pickup.
Radford is just the latest in a string of New River Valley communities looking to raise more money.
Blacksburg is proposing several fee increases including a two percent hike in the lodging tax and Montgomery County is asking for a 5-cent increase in its real estate tax. (------------)
