StarTek has purchased the old Heilig-Meyers furniture store in the Plaza Shopping Center.
The building will be turned into StarTek's latest "customer service call center," one of nineteen in North America.
They expect to hire more than 540 people within the next year.
City leaders hope the business will help create more opportunities in the Plaza, which has seen several of its major stores close their doors.

What makes it unique is that it's entirely made out of foam.

Each stone is made to look exactly like the ones in England.
They stand 13 1/2 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
Cline chose foam because it is easy to sculpt and should weather the elements just fine.
He hopes Foamhenge will attract visitors from all over the country.

Roanoke police say a late-afternoon argument today led to a stabbing. The victim is hospitalized, and the his alleged attacked is under arrest. Police have charged Darryl Beale with the stabbing in the 43-hundred block of Old Spanish Trail. 23 year old Ronnie Tannell Junior is under treatment at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

A search for evidence in a murder case took Roanoke City Police underwater today. A dive team searched a small community lake a few hundred yards from the home where 77 year old Teresa Rogers was found dead in early January. A police spokesperson confirmed the search was related to the murder, but would not say what the divers were looking for. Police have said- -by way of court records- -that the victim's son, Christopher, has made "inconsistent statements."
The two lived on the same seven-acre farm in separate homes. NO charges have been filed.

The Richmond Catholic diocese introduced its new leader today. The Reverend Francis DiLorenzo will become the 12th Bishop in diocese history.
DiLorenzo is 61, and right now is the head of the Honolulu diocese in Hawaii.
He succeeds Bishop Walter Sullivan who retired last year after leading the diocese for 29 years.
The new bishop will be installed on May 24th.

Many fans are hoping that one of the coaches on Weaver's list is current Western Carolina head coach Beth Dunkenberger.
