A renewed search for evidence in a Roanoke murder case sent police underwater today.

A State Police dive team searched a community lake a few hundred yards from Teresa Rogers' farm. The 77 year old woman was killed in January in her home on Lake Drive. So far, the murder investigation has focused on Teresa Rogers' son Christopher. Court records indicate he has given police what they consider "inconsistent statements." NO charges have been filed in the case.

The case against a Roanoke man accused in the biggest drug bust in Bedford County history is headed to a grand jury.

23-year-old Jermaine Niblet was arrested in January after police caught him driving on a suspended license.
A search of Niblet's car turned up more than 13 pounds of cocaine, hidden behind a rear tail light in a compartment that was operated by remote control.
Officers also seized about 25-thousand dollars in cash.
Niblet's facing drug distribution and firearms charges.
A grand jury meets in May.

Investigators aren't sure what started a fire that heavily damaged a vacant home in Lynchburg this morning.

Firefighters were called to 521 Floyd Street around 9:30 when neighbors spotted smoke and flames coming from the back of the house.
It took crews about fifteen minutes to get the fire under control.
It apparently started on the back deck of the home and spread into a kitchen and dining room area.
The house has been unoccupied for some time.
