A discarded cigarette butt has been isolated as the likely cause of the fire in Richmond last month that burned more than two dozen buildings.
Investigators say the blaze began in a trash chute of an apartment building under construction.
Witnesses said they saw construction workers putting trash and cigarette butts into an "already jammed trash chute."
Fire officials did NOT specify an exact cause but noted the danger of cigarette butts in a closed container with combustible debris.
