Two residents are suing the town to stop a proposed 12-mile sewer line to Toms Creek.

The town is supposed to sign for the bonds by April 14th and they say a pending lawsuit is making the bank a little nervous.

A Rustburg man faces drug and other charges after a traffic stop that forced the evacuation of nearby homes.

State police say they pulled over Barney B. Cawthorne for an expired registration yesterday.
But once the 38-year old stopped his car police noticed several containers of chemicals inside.
A police spokesman wouldn't identify the chemicals but says they were of the type associated with making methamphetamine, also known as "crank".
Nearby residents were kept from their homes for several hours as a D-E-A team removed the chemicals and a state police bomb technician and robot detonated a suspicious-looking item taken from the car.
