It happened around 10:30 this morning on Barn Road in Penhook. 21-year-old Jeffrey Anthony Harrison told investigators he shot his roommate in the chest, because the man was threatening to shoot Harrison's girlfriend. He's charged with malicious wounding and is being held without bond in the Franklin County Jail. The victim, 22-year-old Kenneth David was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Hospital officials are NOT releasing his condition.

Federal agents found a convicted felon in Franklin County last month who allegedly had 60 firearms. In a criminal complaint unsealed this week, A-T-F says Joseph Francis Powers had a collection of rifles, shotguns and handguns, a lot of ammunition and a block of the military explosive "C-4." Powers is said to have told agents who arrested him at his home in Union Hall March 16th that the guns were worth about 100-thousand dollars and that he considered them his "retirement." Powers was named in five-count indictment LAST Wednesday.

Connecticut junior guard Ben Gordon will make himself eligible for the June 24th draft. He led the Huskies in scoring this season averaging just under 19 points per game. Gordon put in over 21 a game in the NCAA Tournament. His teammate, junior Emeka Okafor who will graduate in May, is also expected to forgo his final season in Storrs.
While those two are gone, NC State's Julius Hodge has decided to stick around for his senior season in Raleigh. The New York City native is the reigning ACC Player of the Year.
