Today Arab television aired images of the Ohio native in the custody of his captors, who are offering to release Maupin in exchange for Iraqis in U-S custody.

As part of the Marshall Day celebrations, more than a half-dozen helicopters, one jet fighter, and many more displays were showcased at VMI. The event was an opportunity for cadets and civilians to get up close looks at the latest military hardware, and talk with servicemen and women as well as recruiters. This is the 12th year for the display, although last year's was cancelled because of the action in Iraq.

Virginia Tech police are warning of a growing number of thefts on campus.
In an email sent to students today, Tech police say students have reported thefts from dorm rooms and common areas of suites. In most cases the rooms were unlocked.
In the email, Tech's police chief says there's a pattern of increased thefts every year around graduation time.
Police say most of the thefts can be prevented by locking rooms and vehicles.

Now the Chief of Police says officers will not stop African-American men just because someone says they look suspicious, but will get a court order of they deem it necessary. The police department asked nearly 200 black males over the past few months to take the D-N-A tests in search of a rapist who has attacked six women. In most of those requests, officers say they were responding to tips about men who resembled a sketch of the rapist.

Giles County hopes it has the region's newest tourist attraction.

Congress is sending 1.6-million dollars for the historic Glen Alton property near Pearisburg in the Jefferson National Forest. The money will be used to renovate the old lodge and caretaker's home as well as fix up the gardens and create two new trails. Congressman Rick Boucher says he will make sure the funds are protected when the Senate votes on the bill.

Before tomorrow evening's 8pm ballet - an auction will be held at the Jefferson Center in the Shaftman Performance hall atrium. Among the items up for grabs is a Simpson racing helmet from NASCAR's 50th anniversary season in 1998. It is signed by all 43 drivers who started the Goody's 500 in April of 98 at Martinsville - including the late Dale Earnhardt, Senior.

It's alumni weekend at Roanoke College and tonight the festivities got underway with the school's athletic hall of fame induction ceremonies.

The Olin theatre provided the backdrop tonight as five former athletes were inducted into the hall including Roanoke native Aaron Ewert. The former all-American goalie starred at PH before playing for the Maroons. He later played professionally with the Riverdawgs and Wrath. He is joined in the hall tonight by Lynchburg native Hillary Scott - one of just seven Roanoke players to have his jersey number retired. The two-time All-American played professionally in Europe and is now an assistant coach at Penn State. Three former lacrosse stars at the school were also inducted tonight - Colin McGahren, Stephen Hoffman and Doug MacKenzie - a 1984 grad - who was a first team all-American.

Alyona Pisklova, which is not her real name, was actually nominated by her friends as a joke. Aside from being the runaway winner from the contest, she also became the focus of a "No Barbie Doll" backlash campaign. But Pisklova won't be flaunting any beauty queen crowns anytime soon. She was disqualified for being too young and given a consolation prize.
