Investigators later confirmed that the skeleton is that of a human being.

Melinda and Joseph Salisbury- -a couple known to their friends as Lee Lee and Nickano- -had told police Jeffries forced them to accompany him November 22nd on a search for crack cocaine.

A Dublin man was flown to the hospital this morning after a serious crash on Interstate 81.

Police say it took two hours to get 37 year old Donald Lee Sumner out of his van. Around 8:00 this morning Sumner was going South when his vehicle crossed into the Northbound lane and hit a tractor trailer head on around the Fort Chiswell exit in Wythe County. He's in critical condition at a Bristol Hospital. Police say charges are pending.

A former Virginia Tech employee pleaded guilty this week to peeping into a bathroom stall. 46 year old James Allen Smith of Blacksburg was working at a dining Hall when a female says she walked into a bathroom and saw Smith lying on the floor. Smith will serve 30 days of a year long jail sentence. He is listed on the state's sex offender registry for a previous conviction for aggravated sexual battery. University officials decline to say whether they knew of Smith's prior conviction.

After about 12 cars Ricky Rudd went out for his Bud Pole Qualifying laps. Rudd has raced at Talladega 54 times and had 16 top 10 starts there and the closest he had come to the pole was second twice. But Rudd has the Wood Brothers Ford(------------------) on the pole with a speed of 191.18 miles an hour with five or so cars still left to qualify.
