Between November and February sharpshooters took 109 deer within Roanoke City limits. Roanoke police donated the 83-hundred pounds of meat to Hunters for the Hungry. The program was approved by city council a year ago as a way to solve the city's deer overpopulation problem. Officials say too many deer can result in disease, damage to landscaping and car accidents. Police say the first season concluded with "favorable results."
