75 percent of students who attended Hidden Valley's prom took part in the chaperoned alcohol free event.

It warns parents about the dangers of allowing alcohol at a party in their home.

A Glenvar couple for example was sent to jail last month after pleading no contest to providing alcohol to high school students.

A student survey in Roanoke County reveals 80-percent of students listen to their parents when it comes to drugs and alcohol.

A Liberty University student who fell off a railroad trestle last week remains in critical condition.

Marlon B. Roman was apparently trying to climb this trestle in the "Blackwater Creek Natural Area" last Thursday when he fell more than 30- feet. The 22- year- old suffered severe head and chest injuries and is being treated at Lynchburg General Hospital. Police say alcohol WAS a factor in the accident, but have not been able to talk to Roman because of his condition. Officials don't suspect foul play, but are still investigating the fall.

Roanoke County wants to develop Explore Park and tonight it took its case to the people.

The county held community information meeting at Mount Pleasant Elementary School.
They talked about a a specific zoning restriction that puts strict limits on any construction or activites that involve private business at Explore Park.
The county wants to lift that conservation overlay and possibly build an amphitheater or an RV campground.
Residents however have concerns over increased traffic and buffer zones.

A terrorism task force says the warning suggested an attack would take place at a shopping mall near the city's federal building.
The LAPD was out in full force today. Police "closed in" on several shopping centers in West L-A. Officers advised mall operators to boost security. Area residents were told to carry on with their daily routines, but to remain vigilant and alert.

It looks like convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad will go on trial again.
Muhammad was sentenced to death last year after being convicted of the October 2002 death of Dean Myers in Prince William County.
Now Fairfax County's chief prosecutor plans to put Muhammad on trial for the death of Linda Franklin, another sniper victim.

The search for a U-V-a student suspected of shooting a former football player is over, and the victim's chances of making the pros may be over as well.
A U-V-A spokeswoman says Aaron Joshua Robinson turned himself in this morning.

Police say he shot a man late Tuesday night at the Faulkner Residence Hall.

Though the University has not identified the victim, published reports indicate it was former U-V-A football player Jamaine Winborne.
Police say his wound is serious, but not life threatening.
It could be career- threatening though.
Winborne signed a contract with the New York Giants and was supposed to report to mini-camp next week.
The shooting will likely end his chances with the N-F-L team because the contract was contingent upon Winborne passing a physical.
Three current U-V-A players were arrested for a disturbance early Wednesday morning as police tried to investigate the shooting.

The Roanoke museum today announced that it would lay off its handful of employees including Executive Director Aletha Bolden. President Melody Stovall says the museum's suffered from a lack of financial support from the government and poor response to fundraising efforts for the past couple years and that the situation recently reached the breaking point. The changes are immediate and will include reduced operating hours. Stovall says it's now up to the community to decide whether the museum will have to close.

In the third, Salem will use some nice crisp passing as Travis Smith benefits from the final toss and bounces it right between the goalie's legs. Later the Spartans will whip the pass in from the far right side to Mark Turner - who makes the catch and hits the quick shot to make it 16-to-nothing. Then Salem's Philip Lomax will stretch to pull in this pass, and turn and burn for another Spartans tally in the 2nd half. Cave Spring's Ed Avery would them weave his way through the defense for a score.

Former UVa guard Majestic Mapp is getting a chance to play one more season of college basketball.
