More than two- thousand people are currently awaiting organ transplants in Virginia.
The need for organs is critical, and those who've already received a transplant consider themselves fortunate.
As Jennifer Wishon reports, today they got to say thank you to the families of their donors.

Dozens of donors were remembered and honored for the lives like that of Parke Jones that have been spared.
The 51- year- old developed diabetes as a child and suffered from the normal complications as he got older.
He needed a new kidney and pancreas and last year his life changed forever.

Police started searching for 51-year-old Joseph Wheeler Friday night.
His friends, who he was camping with near the mouth of Matts Creek on the James River, say he went swimming and never returned.

Officers say they tried to pull over 38-year-old John Olin Cross around eleven last night, when he took off.
Officers say they finally arrested Cross after he got out of his car and ran into a house.
Authorities say Cross even tried to escape while in custody, but was quickly captured by deputies.

The airport is also designing a new terminal building.
Construction on both projects could be finished by the summer of 2005.

Officials blame the layoffs on competition from cheap Chinese imports.

Burch recently won his first marathon at the North Pole and last year he climbed Mt. Everest.

A children's lemonade stand is generating big money for one local organization.

Yesterday these kids opened their lemonade stand for the season.
Instead of collecting quarters to spend on themselves- the kids are raising money for the Rescue Mission's Women and Children's Center.
The organization has already raised more than three-million dollars and wants to raise 725-thousand more to aid in construction costs.
The stand will be open Monday through Friday from 11:30-1:30, and on Saturdays, from 11:30-2:30.

((Many people in the community of Covington were involved in the project, giving grants and donating land. The 1.2 million dollar facility was completed in late fall.
The Jackson River Recreation Sports Complex features five lighted softball fields, basketball courts, lighted tennis courts, soccer fields, playground equipment, plus a walking trail and picnic areas.

Covington is the first community in the country to have the latest technology in sports field lighting. All of the lights are controlled by computers timers through a satellite dish.
Movable support panel fences and portable mounds make the new fields versatile, and as a result, they are booked through the end of summer. Covington's softball team is enjoying its new digs, and the players are anxious to introduce other local schools to the facility in the upcoming Blue Ridge District Softball Tournament.
