A company in Dublin wants to deliver one to two-hundred local jobs.

Volvo is switching transportation companies that transport completed trucks from its manufacturing facility to customers nationwide.
Swift Transportation Company will be hiring 100 to 150 long haul truck drivers, and filling 50 in-house positions, including shop technicians, administrators, and drivers.
Volvo officials say the new agreement will benefit the New River Valley because Swift hires primarily locally, while the old carrier employs a national network of drivers.

Carroll County has put the brakes on the Hillsville Rescue Squad.

Last night the county board of supervisors voted to temporarily shutdown operations at the squad.
A padlock was placed on the door and the vehicles were towed away.
The county says the decision was made because of numerous problems with the squad, including citizen complaints, missed calls, personnel problems and unauthorized use of a county vehicle.
County Administrator Ronald Newman says all Hillsville Rescue Squad calls will NOW be handled by the Carroll E-M-S.
