Both men were strapped into the plane and they weren't injured in the landing. The plane, a two seat Van's RV-6A, was however damaged by the impact.
Bass built the plane himself, and has 165 hours in the cockpit since it was completed four years ago.

An "F-15-E" fighter jet crashed around 5:15 yesterday in the Callaway section of the county, just west of Rocky Mount.
Witnesses say they saw something fall off the plane moments before the pilot and weapons systems officer ejected safely.
The jet was performing a low- level training mission out of Goldsboro, North Carolina.

The Department of Veterans Affairs announced a plan today to modernize its health care facilities.
The changes include adding 13 new outpatient clinics in Virginia, including ones in Staunton, Radford and Lynchburg.
The Medical Centers in Richmond and Hampton will also undergo an expansion and renovations.
The Secretary of Veteran Affairs says the improvements will provide greater access to care for veterans.
