The airline says it needs to cut at least 25-percent of its annual costs to compete with low-cost carriers. That amounts to about one-and-a-half billion dollars. U-S Airways lost 177-million dollars in its first quarter, and the airline has not made a profit from operations since it emerged from Chapter eleven in March of 2003. Industry analysts blame the airline's executives, for not cutting costs enough while in reorganization.
