The Botetourt County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a James River High School student. 17-year old Aaron Morris of Buchanan disappeared after a party at a private campground on the James River late Saturday night. His body was found in a water-filled drainage-way about 20-hours later. Authorites say it appears he fell over a 14-foot drop and died of the fall or drowning. An autopsy is being conducted.

Quarterback Marcus Vick along with wide receiver Brenden Hill and tailback Mike Imoh are charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The Commonwealth's Attorney is asking for Friday's trial date to be pushed back. Vick is accused of having sex with a 15 year old girl, while Imoh and Hill face charges for allegedly serving alcohol to minors.
[SUPER=03-Christiansburg/File; :21]

The Commonwealth says it hasn't had enough time to go over subpoenaed documents, or to meet with the attorney for the underage girls. A judge will decide whether to postpone the trial at a hearing tomorrow morning.

It seems like just about everyone is getting into low- carb diets.
While some people are on official diets, others are just watching how many carbohydrates they eat.
Every day this week Dr. Sean Kenniff will be zeroing in on the biggest carb problems.
Today ...he looks at bread and pasta, and explains why they spell trouble to carb counters.

(((vo)IT'S A CARB CRAZY WORLD. IT SEEMS EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK PRODUCTS ARE PLASTERED WITH CARB CONTENT. AND THERE'S GOOD REASON FOR MANUFACTURERS TO MANIPULATE THE MARKET. RIGHT NOW ABOUT 11 PERCENT OF THE U-S POPULATION IS ON A LOW-CARBOHYDRATE DIET.
(standup) BUT WITH ALL THESE LOW-CARB CHOICES IT'S NO WONDER THERE'S

CONSTANT CONFUSION (vo)ABOUT WHAT CAN AND CANNOT BE EATEN. SO TODAY WE FOCUS ON TWO CARB CULPRITS:
(nats)BREAD (nats)AND PASTA.

(nats)

MOST OF THE BREAD AND PASTA WE BUY (OC) IS MADE WITH THIS.... WHITE REFINED FLOUR. AND IF YOU'RE FIGHTING THE CARB WAR THERE'S NO BIGGER ENEMY.

(SOT- Samantha Heller/Nutritionist- !!no font too fast!!)

"It gets absorbed very quickly into your (vo)bloodstream. It spikes your blood sugar up. That might signal hunger and fatigue (oc)
which may make you eat more."
SO DOES THIS MEAN A CARB COUNTER HAS TO GIVE UP BREAD AND PASTA FOREVER? THE HAPPY ANSWER IS NO.
(Standup:Dr. Sean Kenniff/CBS NEWS/Miami, FL)

AS LONG AS YOU PASS ON THE WHITE FLOUR.... INSTEAD PICK PRODUCTS MADE WITH GOOD CARBS LIKE WHOLE GRAIN AND WHOLE WHEAT.

(SOT-Heller again)

"Thats gonna keep your blood (vo) sugar rise very steady and consistant and that then, your energy will (oc)be steady and consistant."
PLUS WHOLE GRAINS AND WHEAT ARE LOADED WITH FIBER.... A FAST FRIEND OF THE CARB COUNTER.
(gfx)BECAUSE ON THE BACK LABEL YOU CAN TAKE THE NUMBER OF CARBS AND

SUBTRACT THE FIBER. GIVING YOU A NEW CARB TOTAL. AND THAT GIVES YOU 15 LESS GRAMS OF CARBS THAN REGULAR BREAD.
(standup)

OF COURSE THIS DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN EAT ALL THE BREAD AND PASTA YOU WANT.
(vo)WHEN IT COMES TO HEALTHY EATING MODERATION IS THE BEST METHOD.

Tomorrow Dr. Kenniff will look at some of the no-no's when it comes to low carb diets. Some maybe surprised that juice is forbidden. We'll explain why alcohol is too. And why there really isn't a difference between light beer and the new low-carb beers.
