It happened just after eight o'clock at the corner of Tinker Avenue and Sixth Street. 39-year-old Thomas Hicks of Salem, was driving a bus full of children to William Byrd High School when the accident happened. Police say Hicks cut the corner too close, pinning a car between a utility pole and the bus. No one was injured. The students were taken to school by another bus. Hicks, who's a subsititute driver -usually works at the Roanoke County schools transportation department.

He was charged with reckless driving. School officials say he is certified to drive a bus and has a clean record. Hicks will not drive a school bus until the outcome of his court hearing.
