The American civilian beheaded in Iraq was a familiar name to the F-B- I.
Agents questioned Nick Berg two years ago about an e-mail linked to an acquaintance of terrorism suspect Zacarias Moussaoui.
Investigators determined that Berg had nothing to do with Moussaoui.
As the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal gets deeper, the military is working to reduce the prison population there as quickly as possible.
And, new information is coming out about who allegedly did or did NOT give orders for the abuse.
Teri Okita reports.

TRACK: PRISON GUARD SPECIALIST, JEREMY SIVITS THE FIRST U-S SOLDIER TO BE COURT-MARTIALED IN THE ABUSE SCANDAL MADE A DEAL WITH PROSECUTORS AND IS EXPECTED TO PLEAD GUILTY TO LESSER CHARGES NEXT WEDNESDAY IN BAGHDAD.
TRACK: ACCORDING TO NEWSPAPER REPORTS, SIVITS SAYS THE ABUSE WAS NOT AUTHORIZED BY HIGHER-UPS IN THE CHAIN-OF-COMMAND. SIVITS WAS THE ONE TAKING THE PICTURES AND DESCRIBES THE SOLDIERS AS LAUGHING AND JOKING AS THEY BEAT AND SEXUALLY HUMILIATED THE PRISONERS. HE SAYS, OUR COMMAND WOULD HAVE SLAMMED US IF THEY SAW WHAT WAS GOING ON, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN HELL TO PAY.
ONE OF THE SOLDIERS HE ACCUSED OF WROND-GOING WAS CORPORAL CHARLES GRANER, WHO THE MILITARY NOW SAYS WILL BE THE FOURTH SOLDIER COURT-MARTIALED.

(SOT-Heller)

"actually is absorbed more slowly than the sugar in a candy bar."
